Although Norfolk isn’t our county, it is our neighboring county. We would like to make out members aware that The Long Point Region Conservation authority has issued a level 1 low water advisory. This asks those in that watershed to voluntarily reduce their water consumption by 10% because of unusually dry weather.

The OFA Financial Literacy and Farm Succession Planning Roadshow presented by Farm Life Financial will provide education on financial strategies for farms and farmers, as well as succession planning tools to keep the farm in the family.

OFA Farm Business Confidence Survey. The survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete, and will stay open for response from December 1 to December 22, 2023.

2023 Annual General Meeting

The Elgin Clean Water Program Bus Tour will take place on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a FREE event with a coach bus and lunch provided.

The tour will highlight environmental projects undertaken in Elgin County such as erosion control, wetland creation, tallgrass prairie establishment etc. Talk to other local farmers/landowners and local stewardship experts, and learn about available project funding.

The EFA is offering a $500 bursary to assist members and their families in pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture. Apply now and demonstrate your commitment to the industry!

As we move into the end of November, now is the time to reflect on the changes and challenges this year has brought.

2022 was a busy year for the Elgin Federation of Agriculture, as we participated in many meetings, went back to holding in-person events, and generally sought to keep farmers, farmland, and farmland protection front of mind across Elgin County.
